Chemistry.com

Pink Ink

Gay City News. The print edition's published every other week by the peeps at Community Media (who also produce Chelsea Now, Downtown Express, The Villager and Thrive). It's the future of news dissemination...super-geo-targeted and FREE. I like their new ad campaign: "Have you talked to your neighbors lately?"

Glad-vertising

Two products that I rarely buy: gum (gives me a headache) and sausage (don't eat beef or pork). But some recent gum and sausage TV commercials have put a half-grin on my face.

CadburyAdams' Dentyne. Its new "Make Face Time" campaign, cleverly juxtaposing social Web media jargon with photographs of human interactions. Almost compensates for its use of icky Sorbitol and Sucralose ingredients instead of real sugar.

Jimmy Dean breakfast sausages from Sara Lee. Nonplussed heavenly bodies and weather elements talking amongst themselves about breakfast. Yes, that's the set-up. Method acting at its pinnacle, A++ to Central Casting and Wardrobe. Croissant sandwiches, 29 grams of fat...yikes!

The H Word

Club H Fitness, in Hell's Kitchen, Murray Hill, Hoboken and Jersey City. A 5-star gym and spa facility with recession-sensitive member dues. Great cardio and yoga classes...clean, up-to-date equipment (not like skanky New York Sports Club)...no attitude (like David Barton's)...and you don't have to take out a second mortgage to belong (like Equinox).

From personal training to massage to a nutritional juice/snack bar, Club H has it all. It's the official gym of the Alvin Ailey dancers and Broadway Bares. Join this month and receive 2 extra months at no added charge, plus 2 complimentary one-on-one training sessions.

Tea Time

Yogi teas...the best. They have an amazing selection, divided into Body, Mind, Spirit and Green. Throat Comfort is always in my cupboard (I like licorice), but Antioxidant Green Tea, Echinacea and Stomach Ease are runners-up. I get them at Whole Foods, but you can buy them online.

Oh, I like the little sayings on the teabag tags too...I stick them on my fridge..."Keep Up" is this morning's...

iChat-ty Patty

Best friend and multimedia music maven DOUGLAS DEMILLE told me about a party he attended the other night. In Manhattan. Here's the thing: he never left his living room in Connecticut.

Yes, it's iChat, yet another social networking tool for not socializing face-to-face, but screen-to-screen. Part of the Mac Leopard operating system. My fave feature: changing backdrops a la Pee Wee's Playhouse phonebooth.

Gotta head to the new Apple store in Meatpacking soon...think it's time for a Macbook Pro...me and my 6-year-old G4 Powerbook ain't gitten' any younger...

Elvis Underground

It was just his birthday on the 8th, and BOY did he look damn good on the (apropos) downtown E train.

Never saw one of these hoodies before (blurrily pictured...YOU try snapping pix surreptitiously on a moving subway), but they're put out by a company called HeadHoods...silkscreened profiles of celebrities. Thank ya very much....

Shane Shawn Shoes

Say THAT three times fast.

No, it's not a new take-out joint in Chinatown. My old chorus buddy and super-mega hair model LEE HALL told me to write about this new line of footwear from native Detroit twins SHANE and SHAWN WARD. Now based in NYC, in a past life they designed for Puma, Adidas, Reebok, Converse, Fila and Fubu, so their schtick is bringing athletic comfort to dress kicks. Launched in 2003, their men's and ladies' shoes are priced from $130-350 a pair. Find them on 238 Mulberry, Manhattan, department stores like Nordstrom's and online at Zappos.com.

Shane and Shawn's tagline: Boardroom Rockstars. Hmm, not quite convinced to give up my Pradas and YSLs yet, even though KEVIN SPACEY, THE BLACK-EYED PEAS and SHAQUILLE O'NEAL wear 'em.
